Sustainable development is a term that became a key part of international efforts and public debate on development at the United Nations Conference in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. It is the idea that society, industry, and the economy can only develop in the long term in harmony with the environment. Complete recycling is almost impossible, but each individual can strive to increase the use of fuels and recyclable materials that reduce carbon (CO2) emissions.
Sustainable development: part of our DNA

Close to the Alps, by the Kamniška Bistrica river, which has been powering mills in Radomlje for centuries, we have always been aware of the importance of nature for people. We were fortunate to have companies nearby that recycled used materials, or whose paths crossed ours during product deliveries. We took advantage of this to develop cooperation in recycling long before it became fashionable.
After all, our guiding principle is »via recta ad vitam longam« – the right path to a long life. This philosophy has shaped every decision we make, from sourcing ingredients to packaging our products.
Since 2008, we have had a contract with SloPak for the management of waste materials. In addition, we have delivered more than 90 % of waste materials from production directly to recycling. We delivered excess paper and cardboard to Papirnica Količevo, excess plastic to Omaplast Grosuplje, and wood materials to Tiso Ljubljana. Since 2021, we have also been proud holders of the Green Dot label.

Our desire to establish modern production of dietary supplements in accordance with GMP standards did not stop us from participating in the global movement to reduce CO2 emissions in 2019. Although we decided to obtain only a GMP certificate for the production of dietary supplements, our plant is also suitable for pharmaceutical production.
The key to this type of production is the ventilation of the production chambers and the maintenance of a constant temperature and humidity. Through the careful design and implementation of energy-efficient systems, we have achieved an exceptional 43% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional plants, proving that quality production and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
When selecting materials for packaging teas and dietary supplements, we take into account the delicate balance between maintaining ingredient stability and preserving the environment. This compromise approach has led us to innovative solutions that protect both product quality and our planet.
For dietary supplements, we use GC1 cardboard, which is biodegradable and also ensures high ingredient safety. In 2022, we introduced a significant change for teas by replacing the packaging and filter bags.
We have replaced three-layer packaging bags (food-grade plastic, paper, aluminum) with two-layer alternatives (paper, FSC- and PEFC-certified wood cellulose fibers). A special technology for applying a minimal amount of cellulose fibers to the paper allows our packaging to preserve the freshness of the ingredients while remaining fully recyclable. Our packaging paper received an impressive 19 out of 20 points in recycling tests.
Filter bags are classified as organic waste and are compliant with BRC GS, ISO 14001, halal, and kosher certifications, demonstrating our commitment to environmental sustainability and diverse consumer needs.

Our comprehensive approach to sustainability—from the design of our production facilities to the selection of packaging materials—has resulted in measurable environmental benefits. Our 43% reduction in CO2 emissions, 90% direct recycling rate, and use of certified sustainable materials represent more than just numbers; they reflect our deeply rooted philosophy that the path to a long life must also be the path to a healthy planet.
Our commitment to sustainability is backed by recognized certifications:
Green Dot certificate (from 2021) for responsible waste management
GMP certificate for high standards of production quality
FSC and PEFC certificates for sustainable forest management
BRC GS and ISO 14001 for environmental management
Halal and Kosher certificates for inclusive product accessibility
