Pleterje Carthusian monastery

The Carthusians are a special monastic order, known primarily for their mysteriousness. The monks meditate for the good of the world, do not talk to each other, but collect and study herbs. Herbs can help us achieve enlightenment and the well-being of humanity. However, they carefully hide their conclusions, findings, and the magic of herbs in libraries and share them only among themselves... The secrets of herbs, but for the benefit of all. In 1403, Count Herman II of Celje founded a Carthusian monastery in Pleterje. The Carthusians settled in the monastery in 1404.

1906

The heritage of frater Bernard

Our beginnings reach back to the monastic pharmacy of the Carthusian monastery in Pleterje, led by fra Bernard from 1906 on, who came to be known as a healer and expert on herbal medicine. The mysterious spirit of Carthusian monastic order and fra Bernard’s mission enchanted our founder, MSc in Pharmacy, who then went to revive and ameliorate Carthusian recipes, just like fra Bernard did 100 years ago.

1986

Multiple pioneers

First revived herbal infusion recipes and Pleterje bitters drink were made in a small shop in Pleterje Carthusian monastery. The company grew and started investing in research to verify the quality of sourced ingredients. We were first in many fields:we developed first teas for kids, first BIO teas, first teas for babies and for nursing mothers, first fast teas, first infusions with cannabis and other herbs and first teas for large consumers in large filter bags.

2006

Manufacturing dietary supplements

In addition to teas, we started manufacturing dietary supplements. As second in Slovenia, we set up our own manufacturing facility. In 2009 we offered first supplements with BIO Ganoderma lucidum (reishi) and water-soluble Q10, in 2017 we developed the first CBD granulate in Europe and in 2019 we launched the first line of holistic ditary supplements Life enhancer.

Production appropriate for medical drugs

We renovated the production to the highest standards, those for manufacturing medical drugs. GMP HVAC system, aluminum walls, no-touch doors, air conveyors for ingredients all guarantee highest stability of ingredients and prevent contamination. In desire to produce supplements for holistic treatment of health issues, we developed Life enhancer line. Today we sell around Europe, Americas and Asia.
