GastroCare Complete Biotics 121 contains carefully selected high-quality ingredients, and Herba Medica also carefully checks the quality and reliability of its raw material suppliers and bases its products on sensibly measured ingredients and their synergies. The manufacturer of the probiotic mixture is one of the highest quality and one of the first manufacturers of so-called “probiotics” in the world, with almost 90 years of tradition in this field, as they began producing bacteria for supplements in 1934.
Herba Medica has decades of experience in the field of teas and supplements, and all aspects of our production are supervised by NIJZ, JAZMP, and EFSA regulators, as well as GMP, IFS, BIO E-kon-Cert, and ISO 9001 authorities. Our products are microbiologically tested by independent laboratories.
I.C.3. Environmentally friendly production
The probiotic blend is produced in Sacco Systems' environmentally friendly manufacturing facility. Sacco Systems is a multiple gold and silver award winner of EcoVadis, one of the leading assessors of corporate environmental responsibility. This means that they were among the top 1% companies assessed worldwide.
Herba Medica reduced its CO2 emissions of 2.84 tons per year and holds the Green Dot certificate.
* Based on clinical studies cited under point [1] in the Story tab.
** The European regulator EFSA does not allow the use of the terms probiotic, prebiotic, postbiotic, or synbiotic for marketing purposes due to insufficiently convincing general clinical studies. However, the extent to which a specific mixture of good bacteria contributes to the balance of good bacteria in the intestine can be referenced by the seller in their own clinical studies, as in the case of the NEW BIO-I 10S mixture.

Lactobacillus acidophilus and plantarum are being investigated for their potential positive effects on leaky gut, inflammatory bowel disease, and diarrhea (particularly due to their resistance to antibiotics).

Lactobacillus rhamnosus is being studied for its potential positive effects on diarrhea, particularly due to its resistance to antibiotics.

Lactobacillus reuteri is being studied for its potential positive effects on irritable bowel syndrome and diarrhea.

Bifidobacteria of the animalis species are being studied for their potential positive effects on irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea (they are also resistant to antibiotics), and their anti-fungal effects.

Bifidobacteria breve is being studied for its potential positive effects on irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, and diarrhea.

Inulin is the main candidate for a prebiotic. It is a long fiber that can feed good bacteria in the intestine. It also swells in the intestine and acts on GLP-1 receptors. This increases the feeling of satiety. Cited under point [5] in the Story tab.

II. A scientifically considered combination of beneficial intestinal bacteria and inulin in the most suitable packaging
121 – GastroCare Complete Biotics® Life Enhancer capsules are a high-quality dietary supplement containing a patented blend of clinically tested lactic acid bacteria (lactobacilli) and bifidobacteria. NEW BIO-I 10S®.[1]
II.A. Scientifically proven quality of intestinal bacteria
The mixture of intestinal bacteria contains 10 of the most researched and clinically tested strains of bifidobacteria and lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus acidophilus, plantarum, reuteri, and rhanosus, and Bifidobacterium animalis lacti and breve). The selected premium strains are designed to support the establishment of a balance of good bacteria in the body.
The manufacturer of this mixture is one of the highest quality and one of the first manufacturers of so-called “probiotics” in the world, with almost 90 years of tradition in this field, as they began producing bacteria for supplements in 1934.
Current probiotics on the market compete with an ever-increasing number of different types of bacteria and higher CFU counts. However, certain strains have specific effects on the intestine, so supplements with intestinal bacteria should not focus on numbers that are easy for users to understand, but rather on the optimality of mixtures of genera, species, and strains for the specific problem being addressed. BIO-I 10S is a mixture of strains designed to support healthy intestinal flora.
In addition, probiotics cannot develop without sufficient nutrients. Bacteria (known as probiotics) combined with long-chain fibers that can serve as food for these bacteria (known as prebiotics) are more effective.
II.B. Supplement with added long-chain fibers from chicory (inulin)
Intestinal bacteria also need food. The food we eat has a strong influence on the development of existing bacteria in our intestines and also on the survival and development of bacteria ingested from supplements. Sugar, for example, reduces the diversity of bacteria in the gut. Regular consumption of large amounts of carbohydrates and sugars and the metabolism of these molecules in the gut are two of the main factors that can also lead to metabolic syndrome and type II diabetes.
For the past ten years or so, various long plant fibers have been added to high-quality supplements containing good bacteria. The idea is that these fibers swell with water in the large intestine, protecting the intestinal wall from permeability while also providing food for good bacteria. The first and one of the main candidates for such raw materials, scientifically known as prebiotics, is inulin. However, the European Union does not allow the use of the words pre-, pro-, or post-biotic for any raw material or supplement due to insufficient scientific consensus. It does, however, allow the claim that inulin increases the feeling of satiety, as it acts via GLP-1 receptors (like the drug Ozempic, but clearly to a lesser extent).
II.C. High-quality packaging – to protect the bacteria from moisture and air, as well as stomach acid
The capsules are gastro-resistant cellulose AR-HPMC capsules. These capsules are made from hypromellose (HPMC). They are plant-based (HPMC) and are also resistant to stomach acid (AR). This allows the bacteria and inulin to survive stomach acid and safely reach the site of action where the body needs them – the intestines.
The capsules are packaged in blister packs, just like medicines, to protect the live bacteria and chicory extract from moisture, oxygen, and pathogens in the environment.
